How to clean Vertical Blinds
Here are 5 steps to cleaning your vertical blinds the easy way.
Step 1: Remove Slats
Remove all of the louvres (slats) from your installed headrail by unclipping the vertical slats carefully. Make sure to keep all the removed slats in a safe place, we recommend laying them flat to keep them from damage while you wipe the headrail down.
Step 2: Clean Headrail
As all the slats are now removed, this makes it so much easier to get into the inside of the headrail and wipe it down thoroughly. You can use a damp cloth to do so, this will help get any built-up dirt from inside the headrail. You can also use a traditional feather duster.
Step 3: Dust Your Blinds
Next, you want to get rid of any visible dust from your slats. We recommend using a microfibre cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to gently wipe over your slats to remove any layer of dirt or dust.
Step 4: Clean Your Slats
For stubborn stains use a sponge and gently buff away the stains. It’s important not to use boiling water on your vertical slats, as you do not want to damage the material. Please do a patch test on the small area/edge first.
Step 5: Dry Your Blinds
Finally, once you have cleaned your vertical slats, it’s now time to lay them flat or hang them to dry. Make sure you keep them straight when drying so there is no damage to the shape of the slat. Do not use a tumble dryer to dry your slats faster – the heat will damage your blinds.
